Measure supports hierarchical accounts to enable parent-child billing relationships, a comprehensive solution designed to manage complex billing structures within large organizations or reseller models. This feature allows you to link customer accounts together, designating one as the parent and others as children, which is ideal for scenarios like corporate hierarchies, franchises, or partners who manage billing for their end-customers.

Centralized Billing to the Parent

In this model, all invoices for child accounts are automatically deferred to the parent account for payment. This centralizes billing and simplifies payment management for the end customer.
For instance, a university’s IT department might pay for software used by various academic departments, even if each department manages its own subscription.

Direct Billing to the Child

Alternatively, you can have each child account manage its own billing and payment methods. The parent account retains visibility into the child’s subscriptions and invoices, providing a complete overview without handling the payments directly.
For instance, a franchise headquarters may want to monitor the spending and subscriptions of individual franchisee locations, while each location pays its own bills.

Mixed-Mode Billing

For the ultimate flexibility, Measure supports a mixed-mode setup. In this arrangement, a parent account can have some children defer their billing to the parent, while other children manage and pay their own invoices directly.

Centralized Management and Invoicing

Parent-child billing enhances administrative efficiency by providing a unified view of all related accounts. The parent account dashboard lists all associated children, along with their active subscriptions and invoices. For even greater simplicity, Measure can consolidate all child invoices into a single rollup invoice for the parent. These rollup invoices can be generated at any desired frequency (e.g., monthly, quarterly) and can include parent-specific charges, credits, and discounts. Our system accurately handles complex tax calculations based on both parent and child jurisdictions and generates separate invoices for each currency if multiple are involved. The entire hierarchical account structure, including assigning parents and configuring billing behavior, can be managed through both the Measure dashboard and our comprehensive API.
